Post 1 – Getting started with WPCredits

Introduction

Getting started with WPCredits was my first step toward contributing to the WordPress open-source community. Before making any contributions, I needed to complete the onboarding process, understand the program’s objectives, and become familiar with the tools used by WordPress contributors.

This initial stage helped me understand how the community is organized and prepared me to participate in a collaborative open-source environment.

What I Did

As part of the onboarding process, I created my WordPress.org account, joined the official WordPress Slack workspace, and set up my contributor profile. I also explored the available contribution teams and learned how the community communicates and collaborates on projects.

In addition, I reviewed the WPCredits guidelines and completed the required setup to begin contributing as a member of the Polyglots team.

What I Learned

During this stage, I learned that successful open-source contributions require more than technical knowledge. Good communication, collaboration, and following community guidelines are essential for working effectively with contributors from around the world.

Completing the onboarding process gave me a solid foundation and prepared me to start making meaningful contributions to the WordPress ecosystem.
